About the acts tour
In low-income communities across America, high school students are constantly evaluating what role, if any, higher education will play in their future. For these students and their families the decision to attend college can be both a financial and a social hurdle. For many would-be first generation college students leaving their immediate surroundings and spending a day on a college campus is a dream unfulfilled.
With a desire to meet this need for students from underserved communities to visit and tour college campuses around the nation, Nnamdi Asomugha founded the Asomugha College Tour for Scholars (ACTS) in 2007. ACTS is a week-long college tour committed to nurturing and supporting young scholars’ efforts to enhance their visions of success with education as their gateway.
During our annual college tour trips, we aim to expose scholars to the college life reality and professions that they can pursue following their high school career. We believe that what the mind can conceive, the mind can achieve. With exposure to college campuses and professions around the nation, we expect our scholars to visualize and place themselves in these spaces and positions so that their visions become a reality. At the end of the tour, our group engages in a service project as a way of giving thanks to the community that hosts our scholars for that year.
